Admitted students and their families are warmly invited to attend our Admitted Students Day open house program on Monday, April 8 or Monday, April 15, 2019. We hope the program will allow you to get a sense of the rich and varied student experience here at Pomona and show you the wonderful opportunities that await you on our campus for the next four years. After looking over the schedule, if you have more questions, refer to our Admitted Students FAQs.  

Each day's program includes:

  • An opportunity for students to attend a class with a Pomona student
  • Panel discussions on academic and residential life
  • Lunch with a current Pomona student
  • Opportunities to hear more about student activities and organizations
  • An open house for Pomona's academic departments

Panels & Sessions

  • Tours Galore (student-led campus tours)

Whether it's your first time in SoCal, or you are getting re-acclimated to campus, this 45-minute tour is your crash course on all things Pomona. Student guides will highlight key campus spaces and share anecdotes about their experiences. Please note: additional Residence Hall Tours and Academic Building tours will be available in the afternoon. 

  • Concerning the Consortium

Curious to learn about collaboration and cooperation among The Claremont Colleges? Hear from Pomona students who have engaged academically and socially with our neighboring colleges, including participation in Claremont McKenna College's Silicon Valley Internship Program and Pitzer College's Prison Education Project.

  • Faculty Talk Shop

You’ve heard about the 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio–now hear from faculty about the classroom experience. Professors from a wide range of academic disciplines will discuss their roles as advisors, mentors, teachers and research/internship supervisors.

  • They Paid Me For This? (Research and Internships)

Students in a range of academic departments will present about their experiences conducting funded research through the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) or gaining paid internships through the Pomona College Internship Program (PCIP). A Career Development Office (CDO) staff member will weigh in on their office's incredible resources. 

11 a.m.

"Short-Term Sponsor" Class Visits (students only)

Admitted students will join a current Pomona student host in one of their classes–and continue bonding over lunch afterwards.

Panels & Sessions (will be repeated from 1:30–2:30 p.m.)

  • Real Talk with Students 

A conversation between current Pomona students and admitted students. There will be no staff or parents in the room–just real talk.

  • First-Year Transitions

Learn about the many unique programs that support first-year transitions to Pomona: academically, socially–even physically through the Orientation Adventure program. Students and staff will explain how support, mentoring and student life go hand-in-hand at the College.

  • Full-Circle Sagehens (a senior panel)

Join a discussion with seniors about their four-year journeys at Pomona, from life as a Division III athlete, to the impact of study abroad, and much more.

  • Critical Inquiry Crash Course (a mock first-year class)

First-year students take an interdisciplinary, writing-intensive, discussion-based Critical Inquiry seminar in their first semester. Admitted students and family members are welcome to experience what this unique class is all about. 

Lunch 12 –1:15 p.m.     

Admitted students will accompany their Pomona student "short-term sponsor" for lunch in either Frank or Frary Dining Hall. (The name and mobile number of your "short-term sponsor" will be emailed to you in advance and will also be included in your registration folder.) Parents and other guests will dine with faculty and staff in Edmunds Ballroom.

Admitted students who did not attend an 11 a.m. class will join a current Pomona student (their lunch buddy) in one of their afternoon classes.

​No appointment needed! Take a look through the “Drop-In Office Hours” handout to learn more about affinity groups, academic support services and athletic facilities–then drop in to learn more from welcoming leaders and staff members. Options include:

Tour Guides will be stationed at these various campus locations wearing blue and teal t-shirts. Come meet them and hear more about their residential and academic experiences at Pomona.

3 p.m.

Browsing Fair: Academic Departments and Campus Resources 

Come and learn more about the many academic departments at Pomona, as well as other campus programs and offices. Talk with faculty, professors and staff from our 48 majors about how your interests and passions can be developed at Pomona.

4 p.m.

Food Truck Farewell

Come and mingle with members of the Pomona community who are looking forward to meeting you, including student performers and representatives from 5C clubs and organizations. Tasty food truck fare will help fuel your journey home.
