Fall Athletes and International Students
If you are scheduled to move-in prior to August 24 because you are participating in a fall sport or international orientation, please check-in at Edmunds Ballroom and Steele Forum in the Smith Campus Center. You will be able to pick up your room key and Pomona ID. (Please bring a form of ID with you to the check-in table. Only students can pick up their keys and ID.)
Parking is available on College Ave. or in these Pomona College parking lots: Alexander Hall (550 N. College Ave.) and the Cowart Parking Structure (156 E. Seventh Street).
Here is an online campus map to help you navigate before your arrival on campus.
A reminder that non-Pomona friends and family are not allowed in the residence halls as we work to protect our unvaccinated students, staff, and guests. Because of the time of your arrival Pomona College staff can help you navigate to your residence hall, but we do not have help available to move you into your room.
Class of 2025 and Fall 2021 Transfers – Tuesday, August 24
Move-in on Tuesday, August 24 will happen in two shifts: 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. (Students with surnames/last names BEGINNING with A-M) and noon – 3 p.m. (Students with surnames/last names BEGINNING with N-Z).
Class of 2024 and Fall 2020 Transfers – Wednesday, August 25
Move-in on Wednesday, August 25 will happen in two shifts: 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. (Students with surnames/last names BEGINNING with N-Z) and noon – 3 p.m. (Students with surnames/last names BEGINNING A-M
Please follow these steps to ensure an efficient and safe move-in:
If arriving by car, all families should park in the South Campus Parking Structure (295 E. First Street, Claremont, CA, 91711). If you are arriving by taxi, uber, or walking from the train station, please head directly to Oldenborg Hall (350 N. College Way, Claremont, CA 91711). Here is an online campus map to help you navigate before your arrival on campus.
Students and their families should leave all belongings in their vehicle and walk to Oldenborg Center lawn to pick up keys and Pomona College ID. Families can check-in with Family Engagement. (Note: only students can pick up their keys and IDs.)
Since families and non-Pomona guests are not allowed in the residence halls, we recommend that once a student has checked in, they return to their vehicle with one family member. All other family members are welcome to head to Edmunds Ballroom for the Family Farewell event (8:00 – 11:30 a.m. or 12:00 – 3:30 p.m.) or explore the Claremont Village.
Pomona staff and students will direct you to your residence hall for unloading and move-in.
At your residence hall, RAs, Sponsors, and Orientation Team will help students and the family member unload their vehicle and bring items directly to the student’s room. The family member must stay with the vehicle so move-in goes smoothly and expediently.
Students should label their items with their name and residence hall
After a student’s belongings are completely unloaded, the family member should park in the South Campus Parking structure. They can then head to the Family Farewell event or wait outside their student’s residence hall for them to come down.
The student can meet their family, at their leisure at the Family Farewell or somewhere else on campus or in Claremont.
If you shipped items ahead of move-in:
All items can be picked up by students, with assistance from Pomona students and staff, from the Mudd-Blaisdell lounge.
Please have your Pomona ID ready in order to pick up your items.
Families and new students will say their goodbyes at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Students will either go to lunch with their Sponsors or head to a Sponsor or RA meeting and an Orientation welcome event. Families will be invited to take a tour of the campus.
This marks the beginning of Orientation and we hope to see families again at Family Weekend, October 15 – 16. They can register on our website.
