Any student requesting housing accommodations should follow the same housing application process and deadlines set by Housing and Residential Life, unless the accommodation request relates to the application process, procedures, or deadlines. Students requesting disability accommodations should indicate in their on-campus housing application the need and type of accommodation that they require, as outlined in the procedures below. In addition, students must register with ARS and submit disability documentation to ARS. Accommodations in housing are approved on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on the nature of the disability and/or health condition as well as the impact in the campus living environment. ARS works in partnership with Housing and Residential Life to provide accommodations that meet the student’s needs.
Housing Accommodations may include but are not limited to:
- ADA Rooms
- Emotional Support Animal
- First floor housing
- Air Conditioned Rooms
Procedures for Students with Disabilities
Any request for an accommodation by a student with a disability (or disabilities) relating to the College’s move-in practices, policies, or procedures, will involve an interactive process between the ARS Director, in consultation with the Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC), and the student, concerning the following: the nature of the disability; the resulting functional limitations necessitating the requests accommodation(s); and whether there is any alternate accommodation(s) that is equally effective in meeting the student’s identified needs. All such requests for disability-related accommodations will be resolved via an individualized determination by the ARS Director, who will consider, in consultation with the SDRC Director, all of the information provided during the interactive process.
